Our Land

The majority of the feed that our lovely cows eat is made on our own land, by us! We care about our land as much as we care about our cows, and work hard to treat it well so it will stay healthy for the generations to come. We purchase some of the grains that our cows eat but the corn and grass is all grown locally and harvested by our family and employees. Harvesting the crops is truly a family affair, with the boys working alongside their father and grandfather, learning to mow hay, chop corn, drive truck, and pack the bunk. We have 600 acres of cropland where we grow corn and grasses. After harvesting, we store corn in bunks. We pack it down with a tractor to push out the oxygen and then cover it with plastic so it will ferment and turn into silage. We mix this corn silage with dry hay, haylage, grains, and other nutritious products to formulate a TMR (total mixed ration) for our cows. Each group has a different formula for TMR, regulated by our nutritionist.

In addition to growing feed for our cows, we use our land for maple sugaring. All of our maple in our products is from maple made here on the farm! Majestic Maple (ice cream and yogurt), Maple on Snow and our pint sized Maple Milk all contain syrup and maple sugar from our family sugarbush. We also grow balsam Christmas trees on our land! We make thousands of wreaths by hand from these each year and sell them throughout New England. Our land gives us so much, a place to live, a place to grow our crops, a place for beautiful trees and a place for the kids to explore, we want to keep it healthy!
